Early in the Morning

An acoustic diary along the banks of the Po

Minimalist reflections in homage to Dave Grusin

A Daily Ritual: Light and Sound

This project originates from a solitary and regenerative habit: a bicycle ride along the banks of the Po river at the first light of dawn.

In this "hour of peace," the Turin landscape between the Murazzi and Piazza Vittorio sheds its urban frenzy to reveal a suspended dimension. The video—a three-and-a-half-minute fixed shot—documents an arrival, a pause, and the simple ritual of a coffee by the river, transforming a daily gesture into an experience of deep observation and silent communion with nature.

Chromatic Variations: An Homage to Dave Grusin

The visual narrative is punctuated by a chromatic evolution that closely dialogues with the piano score.

The video's aesthetic transitions from the rigor of black and white to natural colors, eventually shifting into a violet hue that transfigures its perception. Musically, the piece is a tribute to the sophistication of Dave Grusin and his ability to blend refined musical language with orchestral "easy listening" suggestions.

The solo piano composition follows this transformation: a reflective and rarefied first part is succeeded by a more dynamic movement, echoing the awakening of light and the landscape.

Silence and the Rebirth of Nature

At the heart of the project lies a moment of rupture: absolute silence coinciding with the shift to the violet film tint.

In this instant of stasis, even the ambient noise ceases, creating a sensory void that prepares the viewer for the return to reality. Slowly, the sound of the placid river and the birdsong of the chilly morning re-emerge, alongside the distant hum of traffic, merging with the return of the initial piano theme.

It is a closed cycle, offering an image of a miniature universe where music, nature, and the flow of thoughts find a perfect, primordial balance.
